Federal Researchers Find Lower Standards in Schools

NY Times article highlighting a new federal study that shows nearly a third of the states lowered their academic proficiency standards in recent years, a step that helps schools stay ahead of sanctions under the No Child Left Behind law. This is a problem on many levels. Most importantly, it confuses parents and masks serious problems in their kids’ progress.
