			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-52" style="border: 10px solid white;" title="001351_14" src="http://www.twigmore.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/001351_14-150x136.jpg" alt="001351_14" width="90" height="82" /><a href="http://www.edutopia.org/math-coaching-integrated-curriculum" target="_blank">An interesting piece</a> from the Edutopia (George Lucas&#8217; Educational Foundation) website.  It shows how Oregon&#8217;s Fullerton IV Elementary School improved test scores by focusing on teacher training and support.  The underlying themes are that &#8220;Mistakes Start New Learning&#8221; and &#8220;There&#8217;s More than One Method.&#8221;  A good example of their approach is that teachers must find new and exciting ways &#8212; beyond simply putting the number 87 and a minus sign under the number 133 &#8212; to solve a routine math problem.</p>

Rubber Rooms. There are approximately 600 there (with no responsibilities) for an average of about three years.
<p>Seems as though the NYC public school system needs a great deal of work. Hopefully they&quot;ll be able to take advantage of newly available Federal Government funds to make some much needed changes.
